Day 1 - Arrival Luang Prabang
Upon arrival in Luang Prabang meet Local English speaking guide and transfer to hotel. After lunch at Pakhouei Mixay visit Wat Visoun and the shrine of Wat Aham and Wat Mai. Climb up the Phousi Hill for panoramic view of Luang Prabang and enjoy sunset view from the hill. (L/D)
Day 2 - Luang Prabang
Today will be spent sightseeing the city’s oldest temples: Wat Sene and the magnificent Wat Xieng Thong, with roofs sweeping low to the ground. Embark on a cruise upstream on the Mekong River to Pak Ou Caves, via Ban Xang Hai village to observe the process of making rice wine. After lunch at Pak Ou Restaurant we return to Luang Prabang. On the way back visit the pottery villages Ban Chan. Late afternoon take a short drive to Bang Xang Khong and Ban Xienglek, villages well known for their hand made Sar paper. (B/L/D)
Day 3 - Luang Prabang / Kuangsi
Wake up early to participate in daily early morning ritual offering of food to the monks. After breakfast at hotel we then visit the colourful Dala Market full of fresh vegetable and variety of local produce displayed along the walkway. This is followed with a drive to Kuangsi Waterfall where you can swim or walk along the forest paths with picnic lunch box. Later return to Luang Prabang and visit the hand weaving village of Ban Phamon. (B/L/D)
Day 4 - Luang Prabang to Vientiane
This morning enjoy a morning tour to the National Museum, which is also the former Royal Palace. This museum displays a large collection of artefacts that reflect the richness of Lao culture. After lunch at Mixay Phonh Restaurant transfer to airport for the flight to Vientiane. You will be met on arrival then proceed to Buddha Park, a display of Buddhist and Hindu sculptures created by mystical monks on parkland on the bank of the Mekong River. (B/L/D)
Day 5 - Vientiane
Today will be spent visiting the town of Vientiane, beginning with Wat Sisaket with thousands of miniature Buddha statues and the former royal temple of Wat Prakeo. Also visit That Luang Stupa and Patuxai Monument, known as Vientiane’s Arc de Triumph. After lunch at Kua Lao restaurant we then explore Vientiane on foot, visiting Wat Ong Tue, Inpeng and Haisok. Included is the Carol Cassidy Studio (for textile collection) and pass by the major shopping areas continuing to Talad Sao. Enjoy sunset by the Mekong riverside. (B/L/D)
Day 6 - Vientiane to Pakse to Khong Island
After breakfast we transfer to airport for a morning flight to Pakse (Operates on Wed, Fri and Sun only). Upon arrival in Pakse continue by road heading south to Champassak and visit the ruins of Wat Phu, a sanctuary of the Khmer Empire between 9-13th centuries and other Khmer temples nearby. After lunch at local restaurant we then continue by traditional slow boat to Khong Island. (B/L/D)
Day 7 - Khong Island
This morning enjoy cruising into the wildest reach of the Mekong River. In dry season, thousands of islets will appear, known as Si Phan Done. A long the way we stop at Liphi waterfalls and the fisherman village of Ban Khone. We then take a short drive to Laos - Cambodia border of Verntkham to see one of the wildest waterfalls in Asia, Khone Phapheng. After lunch at a local restaurant we return to Khong Island. (B/L/D)
Day 8 - Khong Island to Pakse
Our journey starts today to Tadlo through Boloven plateau, famous for tea and coffee plantations and other lush green vegetation. Explore the beautiful part of the plateau and visit hill-tribe villages of Katu, Alack and Nge, a minority hill tribe. After lunch at a local restaurant we continue to Pakse. (B/L/D)
Day 9 - Depart from Pakse
Before leaving you have a chance to stroll Pakse town on your own or free time at leisure until transfer to airport for departure flight. (B)
